I always knew leaving Juniata would be my hardest goodbye, but having the last two months of my senior year taken away has made that goodbye so much harder. I had no idea that as I eagerly packed my 2008 Honda CRV for my spring break trip with my friends to Georgia, that those would be my last moments on campus as an undergrad. I hugged my roommate goodbye, ironically packed the lightest I ever have in my life, and didn’t look back as I drove away, thinking that I would return to campus in just ten short days.

I didn’t know – nobody did.

COVID-19 makes us #JuniataStrong

First, and most importantly, how are you? There’s no question the pandemic that the Coronavirus has caused is affecting us all in so many ways, too many actually. You might be a student going through their college search, a parent of a college-bound student, or anyone involved in higher education really.

All across the country, colleges are handling COVID-19 in different ways and it’s hard to keep track of them all. Heck, it’s hard for us too and we even work at a college! Some schools are closed, others aren’t. Some have moved to virtual classes for the remainder of the semester, some aren’t. Some have shut down visits to campus, and you guessed it, others aren’t.

Undergraduate Research at Juniata

At Juniata, there are many opportunities to conduct research. Almost every department has opportunities for students to explore their passions. I have been doing research at Juniata since the summer after my freshman year. I was eager to learn more about biology in an in-depth manor, so I applied to work in Dr. Jason Chan’s lab. I have since been working on an in-depth study related to the extension of health in our aging population and the prevention of age-related disease.
