Snakes in a communication class?
I am not a snake person. There are people out there who find the slimy, sometimes life-threatening reptiles interesting or cool, but I am not one of those people. I certainly would never go out of my way to see a snake. As a business communication POE, I never expected a college course to somehow land me two feet away from a four-foot Eastern Ratsnake.
(more…)Julius Caesar at Juniata College
This semester I had the honor of performing in Juniata’s fall production of William Shakespeare’s, Julius Caesar. One of the things that I really enjoyed doing before coming to college was performing in my school’s shows, and when I heard that Juniata was going to be putting on Julius Caesar, I knew that it was something that I definitely wanted to be a part of.
(more…)The Gambian Art Coalition – Part 2
In the summer of 2019, I spent five and a half weeks in The Gambia, West Africa. Three of those weeks were spent studying politics and culture with 19 other Juniata students, and two and a half were spent working for the Gambian Art Coalition.
As a sophomore at Juniata I became the co-founder of the non-profit organization known as the Gambian Art Coalition. Exactly one year later, (as of November 18th, 2019), I am knee-deep in organizing sales and presentations, working with interns and business professionals, and coordinating buying trips and budgets. Being the co-founder and Director of Communications and Marketing of an international non-profit organization was not something I thought I would be doing while earning my undergraduate degree at Juniata College.

Let me start by saying, I love rock climbing. Before I came to Juniata, I worked at a rock climbing gym and climbed a few times per week and I was scared that there would be no place to rock climb and no friends with the same interest as me here. I was wrong.
(more…)My Plexus Inbound Experience.
I had the pleasure of meeting members of Plexus (a student organization that represents and serves underrepresented students from many different backgrounds) before classes started this fall and getting to bond during Inbound (which is a program for first-year students coming to campus a week before classes start to connect with fellow students with shared interests.) Many of us came from places where we either lived in cities or urban suburbs, so Huntingdon seemed a bit new to us. We experienced a multitude of activities together such as a high ropes course, exploring Lincoln Caverns, and a diversity workshop. We also almost always ate breakfast and dinner together each day of Inbound to signify a family meal
